Brinkman takes on the leadership position at 31st Union following the departure of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's disappointing early showing last autumn.
Recently, 2K president David Ismailer updated team members about this organizational change through an internal memo, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had revealed the necessity for a distinct game identity.
The president noted that the team is now refining the project with a renewed vision, aiming to better meet community desires.
Trend of Strategic Recruitment
This announcement follows a similar move taken by 2K Games in August, when they hired an industry veteran from the Diablo team to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

The gamer responses from last autumn’s Project ETHOS testing phase was informative. It validated the promise of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had work to do. It highlighted the requirement for a clearer brand.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the input to mind and revamped the title with a refreshed goal - one that’s positioned to fulfill its potential to our audience.

Brinkman currently serves in the position of senior developer and head of production at Respawn Entertainment for Apex Legends. Game Details and Concept
Project Ethos was revealed in last year in conjunction with a community playtest. At the time, 31st Union portrayed the game as a "free-to-play, 3rd-person action-packed experience and an innovative evolution on the genre."

The game has not yet received an announced debut schedule or supported systems, but players can anticipate further news as production progresses.
